PHILLIPSBURG INTERVIEWS - NOV 11 - 07
Nov 12 2007, 10:10 AM EST FOLLOW UP -- Notes: .. the DVD's will be RAW - suitable for editing. the front 2 or 3 minutes of each is dedicated to "housekeeping". Not sure I got all of the data on Mr. Hanisak before we launched into some stories - but his bio data should be incusive. He and Mr. DePaolis are each to send me a copy of the bio in the mail. This accompanies the dvd's to the library of congress. I am sure each will send the form soon. ..At the end of my questions and the "formal" interview with Mr. DePaulis- I left hte camera running while I used my still camera to photo some of his memorabilia. The Eagle Scout (RAINES??) continued to ask questions while the camera was running.. It is not a formal part of the interview and was done only to allow any additional information to be serindipitously recorded. I did not get the scouts "release" but do not think his voice or picture would ever appear in any edit of the work made in the future anyway. .. i hope you will liberally copy the dvd's for school and community (library- etc) distribution. Might be nicer if there was an edited version (ask your video students if they's like to edit) BUT ... the full and raw - unedited versions can be quite sufficient for sharing. MORE IN PART 2 Do you find this valuable? |

2: PHILLIPSBURG INTERVIEWS - NOV 11 - 07
Nov 12 2007, 10:12 AM EST .. There is a lesson in using the small DVD cameras from your school. It is that it "does not take" a big pro camera to do this! A light of some kind - even a window and a microphone will up the quality a great deal. The audio is fine if no external mic is used if the camera is close enough - but some minor camera "whine" can be eliminated with an external mic. I almost used the mic port on the little camera. I was just not sure of the output because my headphones were not connecting as hoped in the "multipor-video audio" output on the camera. safest bet was to use the camera mic. ... SO -- I would HEARTILY suggest that as a project .. your video classes set up one or two days a year to do a project like this and bring in multiple veterans and other with history to share. If you use the forms from the Llibrary of Congress for releases - you will have a good system for sharing the material nationally as well as with local libraries - and historical associations - etc. .. I was quite impressed to see so many students at the school ... obviously posted around to assist people in finding the right place or with any other special need. You have quite a nice student body there -- they should be proud!! I was also very impressed with the school. It is a great treasure of archetecture from the '20's and the course offereings are superb! I can imagine the teaching staff is amazing. I am always available for questions on "how to" if they come up. I truly enjoyed the effort today and extend my thanks to all. Vic Campbell Do you find this valuable? |
